James Blunt - Concert

I was commissioned by Buzz Magazine to cover Cardiff’s James Blunt concert at the Utilita Arena.
It was one of my first arena assignments, and the lighting rig alone made it unforgettable. From the lighting design and stage set to the crowd reaction as the sets build, there was plenty to capture in a short space of time.
Shooting for a publication meant working to a tight photo-pit window, just three songs, and delivering a fast turnaround, alongside the usual demands of low light and constantly moving performers.
With no second chances to catch a shot, the pressure is exactly what pushed my skills forward. I’ve gone on to shoot numerous arena shows, applying the same eye for lighting and timing.
